The reward of being humble.  Jesus is addressing the Pharisees and religious leaders who were known for seeking positions of power and recognition. He tells the parable on the wedding feast telling guests to take the lower seats first at the table, as not to be told to do so later. He is teaching a powerful lesson about humility and the danger of pride.

Pride leads to humiliation, while humility invites honor.
