39th Day of Lent, April 3, 2026Luke 23:33-46

The Good in the title has meaning in old times was Holy.

Very powerful passage – the crucifixion, the darkness and the eventual human death of Jesus.
The crowd of onlookers – religious leaders, Roman officials, Jesus’ disciples, Mary – his mother and Mary Magdalene.
The sky is dark, Jesus nailed on the cross enduring unimaginable pain and suffering. Lots of chaos around the base of the cross, yet Jesus remains calm and composed, even in his final moments. At the end, the ultimate sacrifice, Jesus willingly giving his life for the salvation of humanity.
Jesus’ actions serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration.
Today, this message of forgiveness holds immense relevance. Just as Jesus forgave his persecutors, we are called to forgive those who wrong us.
By placing faith in Jesus, we can find forgiveness and a fresh start, no matter our past sins. It tells us again to lean on God s strength during challenging times. And finally, remember the boundless love God offers to all who believe.
