Picture a busy marketplace. Hot and dusty.  Isaiah stands to speak and the market goes quiet as he speaks these words.  The Israelites were complaining that God was not responding to their prayers, despite their rituals.  But God spoke through Isaiah and told them that their worship was hollow and lacked true devotion. He asked them to break their chains of injustice, share their food with the hungry and provide shelter for the homeless. He told them their worship lacked compassion.
