Again, another gospel account of Jesus in the wilderness after his baptism.  This passage tells us to resist temptations and rely on God’s word; rely on God more than personal needs. The Devil entices Jesus to use his divine powers for self-serving purposes.  We are encouraged to rely on God’s word and the spirit when facing trials or moral challenges. The number 40 symbolizes a time of trial. 40 days in the wilderness, 40 years in the desert, 40 days of Moses on Mt Sinai.
