25th Day of Lent, March 18, 2026 – 2 Corinthians 5:21
Paul is emphasizing the sacrificial act of Jesus, who took on the burden of our sins despite being sinless himself. Its called substitutionary atonement.
Jesus, who was sinless, took on our sins and then bore the punishment we deserved, fulfilling the requirements of God s justice.
This is relevant today as it addresses the human need for reconciliation, or being in harmony, with God.
A current example:
You are found guilty in court, and the judge imposes a huge fine. You cannot pay it. As desperation sets in, someone steps forward, pays the fine and offers you a clean slate.
